I first met Sam and Katie about 20 hours after they moved to Annapolis. Sam and I began our Master’s program at St. John’s College on the same day and enjoyed many classes together over the last few years. Over those years my boy and I got to be friends with the two of them, and we were very honored when they asked us to photograph their wedding back in Oregon where we are all originally from. I cry a little bit during most ceremonies, but Sam and Katie’s was especially wonderful since I know them so well. I know their tones of voices, and when they said til death do us part I could hear how they meant it. I knew that their families had traveled from Japan and Austria to stand witness, and that Sam and Katie’s marriage, long anticipated, is one that will last. These two are committed in every sense of the word, and we were so happy to be there to see them declare that commitment publicly.
One of my favorite parts of their wedding was when Sam and Katie opted for a pre-wedding portrait session. Earlier in the week of the wedding they got all dressed up and we headed down to the University of Oregon campus to get some photos of just the two of them in a relaxed few hours. We were able to take our time and were so happy with the results of that few hours. We grabbed a few more portraits the actual day of the wedding, but the seperate session earlier in the week allowed for so much more creativity and time than we can usually spare on the wedding day, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get the most out of their wedding portraits.
There were so many great moments of their wedding day, but here are just a few that stood out to me – including the pre-wedding session at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, Katie’s humongous smile as she walked down the aisle, and the hugs that followed the ceremony. There were a lot of tears of joy that day, and we were so honored to be there.

The bride wore a birdcage veil and Louboutins as Wilco and Feist wafted through the air, and a perfect party got down. Christine and Steve wanted to do this whole wedding thing a little differently. They planned a mutual proposal last year, and then actually eloped at the DC courthouse on their 4 year dating anniversary in May. Then, once the pressure was off, because they were already married, they had an amazing party with their friends and family at the Lodge at Little Seneca Creek – a summer camp! I think I especially loved their party because the music, the log cabin lodge, and the atmosphere reminded me a lot of my own wedding. Christine and Steve wrote their own vows and they were some of the most creative and adorable vows I’ve ever heard – Christine promised to let Steve take the lead but if he ever doesn’t want to she’ll be happy to step in!  These two have style, personality and a lot of love and it shone through every beautiful detail of their day.

Doh and Gee’s June wedding was absolutely beautiful. They chose a crisp purple and white color scheme, a swanky lounge theme, and it was held at the stunning old George Washington Masonic Temple in Alexandria, VA. I have never seen so many beautiful people in one place. Doh, especially, looked just gorgeous all day and into the night. The ceremony took place in the art-deco theatre at the temple and after the traditional American they incorporated a Korean Wedding Ceremony. That was a first for me and it was so fun to watch such a rich and ancient tradition. Bash DC did a great job with coordinations including beautiful colored spotlights and fun details like a candy bar. The bride, groom and guests danced long into the night, it’s clear they know how to have a good time!

Jenn and Andrew met at the University of Mary cheap pharmacy buy Washington in Fredericksburg, VA. They now live in North Carolina, but they returned to their old stomping grounds for their wedding. Jenn incorporated creative details into their wedding – all the plates were from thrift stores and they cut their cake with a Marine sword in honor of Andrew. The way that they timed their day was especially brilliant for anyone who really wants to make sure that everyone is relaxed and has a lot of time for great photos. They had their ceremony in the early afternoon, and then everyone took a break for three hours before an evening reception. We did family formals and then Jenn Buy Viagra, Buy Cialis, Buy Levitra Without Prescription and Andrew and I wandered around a historic battleground and an abandoned ampitheatre taking photos for a few hours. Jenn was up for anything, hiking up hills in her gorgeous lace ballgown, and the resulting photos showed the creativity and relaxed nature of the afternoon that Jenn and Andrew had made time for. The bride and groom then had time to go back to their hotel and freshen up before their reception. The reception started with a downpour, everyone huddled under a tent in the Fredericksburg Market Square, but it cleared up and the rest of the evening was spent dancing. It was a relaxed and fun crowd, we felt welcomed into the party and Jenn and Andrew were sent off under a bridge of sparklers.
